OLDHAM AND DISTRICT WIN A TROPHY! SI Oldham & District are the very proud winners of the South Lancashire Region Programme Action Award for 2011. This was won amongst stiff competetion from the 17 other clubs in the region, for our hosting of the "Caring and Sharing" Day in March. Our club came out on top because ALL our members became involved in the project to make it the success that it was. The trophy is a crystal globe depicting the word, which is being held in a crystal hand and is representative of our worldwide organisation. Our club will hold this trophy for one year. |

CARING AND SHARING OPEN DAY On Saturday 5th March 2011, sixteen organisations from across the Borough, some statutory and some voluntary came together at Gallery Oldham to exhibit their services and network with each other. The event was opened by Coronation Street star, Shobna Gulati and was timed to co-incide with International Women's Day which celebrated 100years on 8th March 2011. Some of our members dressed in costumes from the Edwardian era of the Suffragettes via the flappers of the 1920's through to land girls in the 2nd World War. There were also 21st century Soroptimists proving that although our organisation is 90 years old, we are still looking to the future as our motto implies. For more details and photos:- |
